I Don't Belong Anywhere: The Cinema of Chantal Akerman
Presented in partnership with the Film Fatales Baltimore Chapter

I DON'T BELONG ANYWHERE: THE CINEMA OF CHANTAL AKERMAN explores some of the Belgian filmmaker's 40 plus films from Brussels to Tel Aviv, and from Paris to New York, and charts her authorial journey.

An experimental filmmaker and a nomad, Chantal Akerman shared her cinematic trajectory with Marianne Lambert, revealing the deep philosophical questions that color her work.  With her editor and long-time collaborator Claire Atherton, she examines the origins of her film language and aesthetic stance.

Following the screening, join us for a conversation with Rahne Alexander, Kristen Anchor, and Stephanie Barber about the impact of Ackerman’s work. Rahne Alexander is a transgender filmmaker, artist, guitarist, and vocalist for The Degenerettes. Kristen Anchor is an audio visual artist, curator, teacher, and musician. Stephanie Barberis a writer and artist, whose films and videos have has been screened nationally and internationally.
